Eisrebe – Joseph Phelps, Napa Valley, 2007 Wine Review
Eisrebe – Joseph Phelps, Napa Valley, 2007
This Eisrebe was one of the most popular wines of the year in 2009, and arguably the most popular dessert wine of the lot.
It was a tough year for dessert wines overall, as tastes seem to switch to more oaky, heavy, whites and reds. However, a few of them managed to shine through the pack, and that’s exactly what this Eisrebe has managed to do. Made by Joseph Phelps Vineyards, it’s great to see that Napa Valley is producing some world class dessert wines that go up against some of the best that Europe has to offer. The wine is delicate and smooth, with an easy drinking feel to it. That being said, this is not too light, and is full of flavor that means it will work great with a medium-heavy flavored dessert. Pair this with some chocolate cheesecake and you’re good to go to wine heaven for a few minutes/hours.
