Pinot Gris – King Estate, Oregon, 2007 Wine Review
Pinot Gris – King Estate, Oregon, 2007
This excellent Pinot Gris is one of the most flavorful wines you’re going to find. It’s got beautiful tropical flavorings that
include pear and other citrus fruits. Great hints of melon and the odd bit of spice make this the perfect summer wine, or even for something during the fall. It will work well with a wide variety of different flavors, in particular pork. It’s probably worth staying away from the red meats though, because even though this Pinot Gris is packed with flavor, it probably won’t stand up to the heavy flavors of those types of meat. These types of wines are very delicate, and you need to give the flavors time to mature in your mouth, rather than just overpowering them with the food you are eating. You’ll often find critics rating these wines higher when placed on their own than when placed with food. That’s primarily because you allow the wine to really make its mark on your palate rather than just being dictated by the food that you are eating.
