Zinfandel – Sobon Estate, Amador, 2005, Wine Review
Zinfandel – Sobon Estate, Amador, 2005
This 2005 Zinfandel won a lot of praise in 2009 and quickly became one of the most popular wines of that year. It’s definitely
been difficult for Zinfandel’s to break through recently, especially given the press they’ve had; that being said, this one is trying its best to break the mould. Critics have said that red Zinfandels are often far too acidic or sweet, this has caused many to completely give up on them completely, but it might be worth trying this one from the Sobon Estate. It’s not got too much sweetness, and balances well with a complex fruit flavor. It will work with a number of different food types, from heavy red meats to lighter meats like chicken. The nose is full bodied and will give you plenty to smile about. Overall, the wine is great for drinking with a meal, but also works well as purely a drinking-wine, something to enjoy with your friends.
